This drawing was created using a process I have been developing, which I have tentatively named Psycho-Drawing. Derived from automatic drawing, and combined with ‘base imagery’ (found or created images with cerebral intent behind them) I used an arbitrary system of chance to help select the images that formed this piece. Whilst chance was involved, this is not a randomly generated image, or an automatic drawing. I feel that this process produced an image that holds meaning to me, but could also hold many meanings. My hope is that it succeeds in allowing the viewer to project their own ideas into it, and gain their own meaning from it.

T H E  A L L  S E E I N G  E Y E  IS  D O G  T I R E D  AND  J U S T  WANTS TO S E E

The power of the image fascinates me, how and why we are drawn to them, and the importance we put on them. I am interested in the mediation between people and images, and in my work I explore these ideas through a series of processes designed to limit the input of cerebral constructions during their creation.

I use abstractions in order to free the meaning, and allow the mind to wander around the image, giving space for each individual to interpret and project their own meaning onto the work in front  of them.

Destruction in the form of deconstruction of the image is a central driving force. I strive with my process to create a body of work that can highlight the vanity of image.
